Beware of Michelin material savings
There is lots of buzz about Michelin – every tuner use them. They are the best or aren’t they? Only way to find out is to try. I tried this tire only to find out if it can beat my favorite Yoko Advan.
Once you go Yoko Advan Neova AD08R, you never go back !
There is no reinforcements in sidewalls. It deforms and twists under load. Dry grip is same as Yoko Advan and wet grip is maybe little bit better. It is hard to compare unless you do it in one day and with “same” ambient conditions.
It is very soft. It wears unevenly on sport suspension with aggressive camber angles. After 4,000km I had to swap front with rear because inner side of tire was already worn to 1mm. Slightly over 7,000km and tires were worn.
As already mentioned in Myth #1 of BHG – tire review introduction. Michelin tends to sell tires with narrower contact patch width than their competitors. As my tire service friend once said “Michelin is known with this crap, they most likely save money and rip off customers because nobody measures tires but YOU.”
