Skoda Octavia II (1Z3) – ECU remap v5.xx

The more I study Bosch manual and various books from real masters the more I see how commercial chiptuning fucks up dumb customers. Of course it is evolution of version 4 series with improved knowledge and more precise calculations. This is history of version 5 series of ECU remap.

SUMMARY

  • the more I know the more I see how commercial chiptuning is joke
  • I am also glad I grew balls and took the risk with ECU calibration by myself
  • still problems with overheating
  • optimizing Pedal/Driver Wish maps
  • optimizing AFR
  • optimizing turbocharger spooling for better transient response
  • optimizing EGT limiter
  • optimizing injection timing
  • I finally started some intelligent version numbering instead of unnecessary jumps in major version

Changes

  • screwing around with FMA in hope to increase min. Lambda 1.2 (v5.00)
  • Pedal/Driver Wish maps to default
  • Pedal increased fueling at 40-60% position (v5.10)
  • Torque Limiter – increased fueling @ 2000 rpm
  • duration maps interpolated for 70mg IQ
  • Lambda maps returned to default, increased only at high revs (v5.11)
  • FMA min. fuelling returned to default (it doesn’t work – possibly somewhere parallel maps)
  • MAP Smoke Limiter – allow more heat at low revs for quicker turbocharger spool (v5.12)
  • MAP Smoke Limiter – reducing AFR at low revs for quicker turbo spool and slowly increase AFR for optimal combustion process and less overheating (v5.13)
  • Lambda maps returned to default
  • Torque Limiter – slightly increased @ 1750-1900 rpm (factory clutch is rated at 400Nm)
  • SOI maps optimized for increased fueling (v5.2)
  • Torque Limiter – values used from Skoda Octavia vRS (uses same clutch)
  • SOI maps reduced/retarded due loss of power (v5.21)
  • racing style Pedal/Driver Wish for quicker engine response (v5.22)
  • SOI maps advanced 0.5° (v5.23)
  • EGT limiter returned to default due overheating and turbo damage (v5.24)
  • MAP Smoke Limiter –  AFR 18.5:1 at engine speeds <3000rpm and 19:1 >3000rpm due overheating

Vision

  • how to safely increase power
  • the more I know the more I return to factory calibration
  • better control of overheating and avoiding another turbo failure
