Skoda Octavia II (1Z3) – ECU remap v6.xx

I still have issues with engine overheating despite improved cooling. I am starting to understand why manufacturer keeps high AFR. In theory 14.5:1 stoichiometric ratio is optimal for diesel fuel but in reality it smokes and overheats engine. This is history of version 6 series of ECU remap.

Bosch EDC16U34

SUMMARY

  • the more I know the more I return to original factory calibration !!!
  • new calculation of calibration data
  • better heat management of engine
  • injection timing to factory default
  • intensive testing in mountains
  • slowly understanding that boost doesn’t matter
  • studying over and over again Bosch 2000 pages ECU manual
  • experimenting with FMA a Lambda full load regulation

Changes

  • everything recalculated (v6.00)
  • Torque Limiter and Boost limiter changed
  • everything recalculated due lack of torque (v6.10)
  • Torque Limiter and Boost limiter changed based on new calculation
  • SOI to factory default (v6.11)
  • Lambda maps increased to 1.241/18:1 @ 2500-3000 rpm; 1.379/20:1 @ 4250 rpm (v6.12)
  • N75 maps optimized for increased boost (v6.20)
  • experimenting with MAF smoke limiter (v6.21)
  • MAF Smoke limiter doesn’t work smoothly, returned to factory MAP Smoke limiter (v6.22)
  • MAP Smoke Limiter – increased AFR to 18-19:1 . It looks like this is the only limiter that reliably works on Bosch EDC16U34 ECU (v6.23)
  • torque to IQ mapping interpolated for increased fueling (v6.24)
  • Torque Limiter increased
  • MAP temp correction interpolated for new values (v6.25)
  • FMA switched off (v6.251)
  • FMA switched on – no changes (v6.252)
  • Lambda full load regulation switched on, Lambda maps changed to 18-20:1 AFR (v6.253)
  • Lambda full load regulation switched off, only Torque Limiter and Boost Limiter works reliably as Smoke Limiter (v6.26)

Vision

  • reliable and precise fuel mixture control because Lambda or MAF smoke limiters do not work on this ECU !
  • more safe torque
  • transient response for hillclimbs and rally style driving
